My New Small Business: Dairy of Kathy Leventhall

Hi, I’m Kathy! I’m forty-one years old and the mother of four children. Three boys and one girl. The oldest is sixteen and my youngest is nine. I’m a full-time homemaker (my husband is a soldier and is currently serving in Iraq) and decided that I wanted something to do with my free time, that would actually benefit me and my family. When I met Pam Mosbrucker and Tobin Alder at their recent seminar, I thought that I could trust them and signed up for their online course. They offered a three-pay option so the payments are affordable for me, and the investment ($375 total, paid out over three months) seemed small compared to what I would be learning. Plus, it included a copy of their book, which I wanted to buy anyway.

After talking with Pam and Tobin, they shared their insights with me about writing as well as starting a business, and I begged them to let me write a diary about my experiences in their online class. They didn’t want me to work too hard, but I insisted that I wanted to learn to write better, and I could give an accurate view of what I went through as I progressed through their course modules.

So, here I am. They helped me set myself up with a blog, and told me that I could post as often as I felt like doing so. I have an email and everything (which I never had before!).

I hope I can do well, here, and I hope that I can be of benefit to you readers. The main reason this was important to me was because Pam and Tobin are such good people, and they really aren’t in it for the money. They’d help me just out of the kindness of their hearts and because they want to see me succeed. There aren’t many people like that out there, especially on the internet, and I want to make sure others know how much I appreciate what they’ve already done for me.

One other thing. I was skeptical that I could take their course, for two reasons. First, I was skeptical because it seemed more advanced than I would be able to handle. I wasn’t able to get a copy of their book when I heard them speak, but it has just arrived in the mail and I was relieved with what I saw. It’s very simply explained, and I saw pictures and checklists for everything. Even the print was big enough that I could read without my glasses. I also was relieved by how everything is broken down. Like I said, I have four kids and they all demand a ton of attention. I didn't want something that was so complex it would take all my time away from them, or that I would become bored with learning because it was too difficult. Their book is as simple as it gets, and from the looks of things, so is their online course.

The other reason is because I’ve been wanting to take a class like this for a long time, but I have been disappointed before. About a year ago I signed up for a “build a website and make a million online” course, paid my $600 and logged in to the member’s area. Wow was I overwhelmed. They had a lot of information, but it was all there at once! I didn’t know what to do, what to read, or even where to start. I couldn’t handle it. I needed someone to show me the way. Tell me what to do, when to do it, and how to proceed. No complications, no overwhelming information, just show me what to do! Needless to say, I got burned there, but was willing to listen to Pam and Tobin when I went to their seminar, and was pleased that I took the time.

I’ve got my copy of “Cyber Gold” (it came in about a week), and I’m ready to log in to the first module and get started. Each day (or, each day that I work on the course, I guess), I’ll post to my blog so that you know how I’m doing.

If I can help at least one person, then I’m happy to be writing this experience down.

Sincerely,
Kathy

The course is taught by Pam Mosbrucker and Tobin Alder, who are the authors of "Cyber Gold: A Guidebook on How to Start Your Own Home Based Internet Business, Build an E-Commerce Website, and Strategies for Complete Search Engine Optimization." The course was taught at a real college, Idaho State University, last fall by Pam and Tobin and had a large enough turn-out that they had to put the course online to accomodate everyone.
